Immigrants Big Contributors of HIV in South Africa
A research shows that couple thousands of Foreign Nationals from the SADC region are a big contributor to the increase of HIV cases in South Africa 🇿🇦
Many of these countries do not have good facilities to test nor detect their HIV status earlier and when some of them jump the border they already contaminated and may affect a South African citizen with HIV when they sleep together.
The government must put a system in place to test some foreign nationals for HIV at the border so that they may also start treatment immediately once in the country.
Small country like Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho do have lots of HIV cases and some of them undetected by their government.
The deputy minister Paul Mashatile has acknowledged that SADC countries face HIV problems not only South Africans and there is a proposition to start manufacturing HIV drugs here at home and maybe help other African countries to have access to the drugs.
South Africans are advise to take the HIV prevention and continue to use condom when having sex together.
