Kaizer Chiefs broke the cursed by winning Nedbank Cup after 10 years without a cup!
Kaizer Chiefs have finally ended their long wait for silverware by winning the 2025 Nedbank Cup. They beat their biggest rivals, Orlando Pirates, 2-1 in an exciting Soweto Derby played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, May 10.
Chiefs started the match strongly and were awarded a penalty just 10 minutes in. Gastón Sirino stepped up and calmly scored to give Amakhosi the lead. But Orlando Pirates didn’t take long to hit back. Just seven minutes later, striker Evidence Makgopa scored with a powerful header to make it 1-1.
The game was intense, with both teams creating chances. The winning goal came in the 80th minute when Kaizer Chiefs’ captain, Yusuf Maart, found the back of the net with a well-placed shot. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
